GBWGV – Love Me

02 Sep 2010

“This writer has been attending the Melbourne Fringe Festival for more than two decades now, and Ghostboy with Golden Virtues are far and away the best thing I have ever seen there. Epic psychosexual rock opera theatre of the f**king absurd. This bunch should be bigger than The Tiger Lillies. Yes.” – INPRESS

“One of the most bizarre and brilliant live music events Brisbane is likely to witness this year”
– TIME OFF

Ghostboy with Golden Virtues (GBGV) are Queensland-based avant-garde art rock brutes, nominated for Best Cabaret Ensemble for the Green Room Awards 2010. Delighting audience with their mix of Cabaret and indie performance, GBGV released their debut album ‘Enter’ earlier this year and are set to launch the second single ‘Love Me’ which includes the Faith No More-esque ‘My Cerulean Heart Breaker Remix.’   To celebrate the release of the single and brand spanking new music video (see link below), the twisted seven-piece collective are coming to Sydney for the first time to show us what all the fuss is about.

Flanked by multi instrumentalist chanteuses Skye Staniford & Hannah Jane, spoken artist & vocalist Ghostboy delivers his special blend of antagonism & sensuality with precise, almost sadistic delight. GBGV’s pants-off-punk-kabaret-músik is not for the faint hearted. These underground creatures seduce audiences direct into a world of Berlin-style rock ‘n’ roll debauchery. Comparisons have been made to Nick Cave, The Tiger Lillies and Alice Cooper.

Infamous for their exploding live shows – drawing on elements of performance art rock & experimental cabaret. GBGV have (dis)graced stages to critics acclaim in recent years at Woodford Folk, Byron Bay Writers, Melbourne Fringe Festival Hub and Brisbane Cabaret festivals as well as Brisbane venues. They have previously supported the likes of Chris Bailey (The Saints), Mojo Juju and Juke Baritone. 2010 will see the band perform at Byron Bay Writers Festival (Buddha Bar), Sydney Fringe Festival, The Judith Wright Centre (Brisbane) as well as being a featured artist of the Boho Ball, a national touring circuit.
