I DREAM IN TRANSIT – Electronic Bells
30 Aug 2010
I Dream In Transit are a three-piece band, formed in Sydney (in 2009) and who now dwell in the shadows of the rainclouds that shroud Melbourne town.
Creating atmospheric works that simultaneously incorporates light, noise, and reverb, I Dream In Transit sculpt soundscapes that are equally intoxicating yet eerily haunting. Recorded primarily on an 8-track machine, in various apartments around various cities, they write songs about industrial lights and airports (and try to replicate the sound of nightmares). It’s a combination of naïveté and paranoia.
Their experimental down-tempo wanders away from conventional song structures and effectively uses repetition and multiple layers to lull you into a dreamlike state of flux that while unsettling is also hypnotically engaging. Signed to Speak N Spell in 2009, Electronic Bells is the first single off of I Dream In Transit’s forthcoming debut album, due for independent release October 2010.
“It speaks of those moments when all the past and all the future disappear and the only thing left is the moment. There is a feeling of hyper-reality, of static electricity in the air, and suddenly the extremely mundane is transformed into a sense of absolute wonder”. – messandnoise
“…some of the coolest sounding atmospheric music to come out of Australia. If you like newer Radiohead and the more minimalist Sigur Ros, you will probably like I Dream in Transit, but again be prepared to hear something that sounds completely different.” – thedwarf.com
